What are antioxidants?
Antioxidants are substances that neutralize free radicals – unstable molecules that arise, for example, from UV radiation, stress, smog or an inappropriate diet. These radicals can damage skin cells, accelerate the aging process and weaken its natural defenses.
How do antioxidants affect the skin?
Antioxidants help the skin by:
Protecting cells from oxidative stress
Slowing down the aging process - reducing fine wrinkles and loss of elasticity
Improving the appearance of the skin - the skin is brighter, firmer and healthier
Promoting regeneration and healing
Increased skin's defenses against external influences (UV, pollution)
Preventing the formation of pigment spots and inflammatory processes
Active care
In Yage natural care products, we use highly effective antioxidants from plant extracts, oils and fermented ingredients. The most effective ones include:
Vitamin C – brightens, evens skin tone and stimulates collagen
Vitamin E (tocopherol) – strengthens the protective barrier and hydrates
Coenzyme Q10 – protects cells and supports their energy
Green tea – soothes and has an anti-inflammatory effect
Resveratrol – a powerful antioxidant from grapes with anti-aging effects
Astaxanthin – an extremely powerful antioxidant from seaweed
Rose oil, rosehip, sea buckthorn, acai or spirulina – natural sources full of vitamins and polyphenols
Antioxidants in the diet:
Great skin starts from within – so supplement antioxidants from food as well. The richest sources are:
Forest fruits – blueberries, raspberries, strawberries
Green foods – spinach, kale, spirulina
Nuts and seeds – especially walnuts, chia, flax
Citrus and kiwi – for high vitamin C content
Dark chocolate (quality!) – contains flavonoids
Green and white tea, quality red wine, turmeric, ginger
Why do we need antioxidants every day?
Free radicals are constantly produced – even when we are sitting at the computer, walking down the street or stressed. The skin is under constant pressure and without protection it loses its firmness, elasticity and natural brightness more quickly. Therefore, it is important to regularly supplement antioxidants both from the diet for internal cell protection and through cosmetics for direct action on the skin.
